Project overview

Creating covers for a miniseries in the "A Very Short Introduction to…" collection by the Oxford University Press. With an entirely self-made visual approach, from the background assets to key imagery to iconography.

Challenge

Developing a visually consistent cover, but differentiating enough for each book. Whilst standing out on a bookshelf and feeling collectible for the reader and referencing the topic of the book, of course.

Action

Glowing abstract visual representations of the topic that feel ethereal. With holographic foiled titled that 'animate' as someone walks by as it responds to the changing lighting conditions. Hierarchical imagery that ties the series together

Insight

Anything that ends up in print requires heavy adjustment while reassessing how it actually looks physically and not just on screen.
